Serious sugar coma

My mom, Ginger, Catherine and I had a cake tasting today at Royal Cakery in New Orleans East. It was really fun and delicious but I had so much cake, I may not eat it again until April. Unfortunately Austin couldn't join us because he was too busy at work, but we definitely ate his share.

Here is a before photo of the tasting - we each had 3 plates this size! So. Much. Cake.

Some of the combos we tasted included:
-Red velvet cake
-Chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream
-Chocolate cake with chocolate ganache
-Yellow cake with fresh strawberry
-Almond cake with raspberry
-Almond cake with chocolate buttercream
-Almond cake with lemon custard
-Carrot Cake with cream cheese icing

A pretty delicious lunch if you ask me!

We decided on a 4-tier cake which means we get to have several different flavors of cake. I am looking forward to having a piece of each in April!

We are also having a grooms cake, which is a southern tradition and typically chocolate. So, there will be plenty of cake to go around. YUM.
